Abstract: The role of the law in enhancing national security and combatting terrorism in Iraq is essential, as terrorism represents a major threat to stability and security in the country. Iraq has a counter-terrorism strategy that focusses on three main foundations, namely the prevention of terrorism through criminal law and law enforcement measures aimed at disrupting and preparing terrorist attacks, prosecuting terrorists, ensuring that terrorist crimes committed in Iraq are subject to investigation as efficiently and faster as possible, bringing those responsible to justice, protecting all persons in the territory of Iraq from the threat of terrorism, providing security for the people and protecting the potential targets of terrorist attacks. In addition, the European Union and NATO have played an important role in combatting terrorism in Iraq by taking the necessary measures to combat threats to peace and security resulting from terrorist acts. Preventing the transfer of terrorists and the transfer of weapons to them, and any financing that supports them and strengthening regional coordination between regional countries to stop terrorism. In general, the role of the law in strengthening national security and combatting terrorism in Iraq is an essential part of the country's strategy to combat terrorism and protect its stability and security.
