Abstract: Tensions along Ukraine's Russian border are at their highest point in years. The United States and NATO are increasing their backing for Ukraine because of fear of a possible Russian invasion. For hundreds of years, Russia and Ukraine have had linguistic and cultural relations. After Russia, Ukraine was the most powerful nation in the Soviet Union. Ukraine has served as a centre for manufacturers, commercial enterprises, and defense production. Additionally, Ukraine gives Russia vital access to the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Along its border with Ukraine, a prospective NATO member, Russia has been engaging in a military buildup. According to Russia, the troop deployment is a reaction to NATO's continuous eastward encroachment. Russia claims that its actions are intended to safeguard its own security interests. The human rights situation in Ukraine and the EU member states has been significantly impacted by the conflict, which was started by Russia's act of aggression in March 2014 and fully developed in February 2022. There are three primary ways in which this influence shows up. The protection of Ukrainian war refugees is the primary area. The sanctions placed on the people of Belarus and the Russian Federation are the subject of the second section. The impact of the conflict on the human rights of the general populace of EU member states is the third area. This impact can be attributed to either the economic or social hardship caused by the conflict or too restrictive measures implemented by EU member states in reaction to the conflict. The primary goal of this study is to demonstrate that the human rights protection system proved to be ineffectual during the conflict and had no discernible influence on Russia. Analysis of secondary data is the primary research methodology. News articles, social media posts, reports, and official papers that are accessible online are the primary sources of data. This study aims to provide a more thorough introduction to each of these topics, and the insight reminds us that failing to give each one enough attention at the same time could lead to human rights abuses and the radicalization of some groups within society who may feel left out and unheard.
