Abstract: The Rohingya crisis refers to the ongoing military crackdown by the Myanmar Army & Police on Rohingyas. Discriminatory policies of Myanmars government since the late 1970s have compelled hundreds of thousands of Muslim Rohingya to flee their homes in the predominately Buddhist country. The Rohingya trace their origins to the 15th century when thousands of Muslims came to the former Arakan Kingdom. Many others arrived during the 19th and early 20th centuries, when Rakhine was governed by colonial rule as part of British India. The regional security implication of the Rakhine State crisis stem primarily the risks of sectarian conflict as Muslim communities in Southeast Asia, accounting for almost half the region's population, grow increasingly angry over the treatment of Muslim Rohingya by Buddhist Rakhine. Militant group has also announced Muslim communities in Southeast Asia to support the Rohingya in Myanmar. So this religious sentiment is easily exploited the Southeast Asian and South Asian politics, basically Indian politics.
