Abstract: Parental literacy plays an important role in education of children. This holds true especially in elementary schools, where children develop their foundational skills. In India, lack of parental literacy and involvement can significantly impact children's learning, attendance, and motivation. This paper looks at the relationship between parental literacy and involvement in elementary education in India. It also explores how literacy level of parents affects home- learning environments, communication with teachers, and overall academic success. The paper highlights the barriers that limit effective parental participation. Parental literacy and involvement can be improved through targeted programs and policies which will thereby bridge learning gaps, boost school accountability, promote fair education and encourage parents to engage actively in the educational development of the country.
