Abstract: Political Empowerment of Women in India with Special Reference to Assam Political empowerment of women is a very widely discussed concept among the present academia. The Gender Development Index measured under United Nations Organization recognizes it as one of the core parameters of development. This paper therefore, undertakes the issue of political empowerment of women as the focal point of discussion. Again, the Global Gender gap report 2025 pointed out that there is wide gender disparity has been witnessed more especially in women’s representation in political spheres in India (https://csbias.com/world-economic-forums-global-gender-gap-report-2025-india-ranks-131st). Thus, the study aims to comprehend the conceptual framework of political empowerment of women, the causes and determinants of women’s political empowerment measures adopted in India to strengthen women empowerment and the available statistical figure out in the context of political participation of women in India in general and in Assam in particular. The paper is based on purely secondary sources of information. it uses descriptive analytical methods to explain the results.
