Author(s): Dr. Arakaza Dionise

Abstract: This research is meant to analyse the usefulness of diplomacy within some selective regional parliaments with the focus on the Pan African Parliament (PAP) and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). It aimed at generating the awareness of an in-depth area of parliamentary diplomacy theory, to consider the practice of parliamentary diplomacy through the case studies of the PAP and IPU, to analyse the commonalities and differences of the structure and functioning of the PAP and IPU as international parliamentary institutions, and to critically assess the connection between parliamentary diplomacy and international relations. In order to fulfil the purpose of the study, the researcher has collected and analysed both primary as well as secondary data. The findings of the study depict that there is the utmost significance of parliamentary diplomacy within the PAP as well as the IPU as it has given the new insight in international relations.
